children’s communication charity I CAN has warned that communication with our children is suffering due to parents having to work longer hours to make ends meet in the current economic climate.

The recession has almost three-quarters of uk parents to take on extra work to make ends meet, according to a survey carried out by the charity, 55% of those parents questions admitted that they spent less quality time with their children due to work commitments.  Most parents understand the importance of regular quality conversation with their children, bit 19% said they were so too tired after working extra hours to commit to it, and a massive 35% said they just didn’t have time for it.

 Kate Freeman, I CAN Communication Advisor, said, “Parents want the best for their children and are well-informed about how important it is to chat with children in order to nurture their communication skills. They’re aware of the key milestones at the different ages and stages of development – but their best efforts are being hampered by the recession’s impact on their working hours”.
“We’re concerned at the knock-on effect on young children who need verbal interaction to build their own speaking and understanding skills, especially in the early years. Without these skills they may start school with a lower level of language than expected at their age. The good news is that making time for chat and rhyme will help get children ‘communication fit’ and ready for school”.

Beyonce shows off her baby bump

The Mayor’s Midnight Fireworks in London are going ahead again this year, the display by the Thames, attracts huge crowds, usually around 250,000 people, will you be one of them?

This year there will be an exclusive live DJ set from Radio 1’s Nihil, starting at 10pm, and going on after the fireworks display. If you attend you also get to hear the famous Big Ben ‘Bongs’ , then get to see the UK’s biggest annual firework display from the London Eye, alongside a tailor-made soundtrack. No tickets are required for this event.

The cause of global superstar rapper and actor, Heavy D’s sudden death was due to a pulmonary embolism, caused by deep vein thrombosis -DVT- as ruled by a Los Angeles Coroner.

The US star died at Cedar Sinai hospital california on November 8th 2011 after collapsing in the outer area of his home, he was 44.   A pulmonary embolism is a blockage of an artery in the lung, often caused by a blood clot that travels to another part of the body. The report from the coroner’s office states that absolutely no alcohol or drugs were involved in the rappers death.

DVT s closely associated with long distant travel, and although Heavy D’s weight and heart disease were contributing factors, a recent transatlantic flight was also listed as a highly probable contribution, to his cause of death.

Rapper Heavy D hit the big time with his hip hop group The Boyz, and enjoyed a fruitful solo rapping and singing career, even appearing on Michael Jackson’s track, The Jam. He later became a successful actor n hollywood.  He was well-loved within his social circle, and within the industry itself, among many famous names that came to pay their respect at his funeral were, Russel Simmons, Kimora Lee Hounsou, Chris Rock and Will Smith.

Giuliana Rancic was at home yesterday, just three days after her double mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery.

Rancic, was diagnosed with breast cancer last month, after a routine mammogram, checking for any abnormalilties, before she was to undergo her second try at IVFt reatment, in a bid to fall pregnant, together with her husband Bill.

The thought of babies has been put on hold, while she had been receiving treatment for her cancer, which unfortunately did not completely remove all of the cancer. Giuliana made the decision to have a double mastectomy, was said to be a very difficult decision, but the right decision for her.

Guliana told E! network, where she is a celebrity news reporter, and anchor, for the show E!News  “i am feeling good, and i am happy to be home, I’m healthy and surgery was a success. It’s been tough, but I’m trying to stay strong and manage the pain. I have to say I have a newfound respect for women who have been through breast cancer and this surgery,”

Every moth there seems to be a new exercise craze being talked about, usually with a celebrity name or two attached to it. With so many different excercise workouts, styles and genres, surely all of us have found the one that is perfect for us??.. NO??

Our workout regime is as unique to us as our wardrobe, or make up bag, not all of us enjoy running on a treadmill at a über trendy gym, or swimming 100 lengths of the swimming pool aiming for the gold medal at the 2012 olympics, but we would still like to look like that is what we have been doing.

well here are some helpful tips, and introductions to some exercise methods that have proven beyond doubt that you can have fun , get fit and make your work out your own, there may even be one or two you may not of heard of yet.

ZUMBA;  If you havent heard f Zumba then where have you been , it’s the craze that has swept the planet this year, even crossing over to Dvd’s games console workout discs, including  Nintendo Wii and the Xbox Connect.

but did you know there are a few different variations available, if the high impact fast fun workout is a little too high impact for you then how bout Aqua Zumba, Zumba Toning and Zumba in the Circuit, and there are now even children’s lighter versions of Zumba to keep our little mini me’s happy.

BOKWA; now here is one you may not have heard of yet, Bokwa is a unique cardiovascular workout based on a series of routines centred on different letters and numbers. Using African, Latin, popular dance and house music it aims to keep you motivated and exhilarated. Incorporating elements of kick boxing it aims to be a constantly challenging and high intensity workout. Bokwa was born from the combination of boxing (bo) and the cultural aspects of Kwaito (kwa).

YOGA: with the calm workout from Yoga or even Pilates, you don’t have the stresses of any high impact jumping around, all you need is a quiet space and a good Yoga mat.  A series of stretches, bends and carefully designed breathing techniques hailing from the olders of India, have been long proven, to improve circulation, flexibility and tone the muscles that you didn’t even know you had.  A  great thing about yoga is that it is very suitable for all ages, from children to, well…i don’t think there is an upper age limit.

WALKING; Yes ladies, it’s good old walking, that can do the trick to tone up those gorgeous legs of yours. just  few times  week leaving the car in the driveway and chosing to walk instead, will make a huge difference, and it’s a great way to get your general energy levels up to.

  Adele is recovering from throat surgery, but will that hold her back….?  Somehow we don’t think so.

Adele first came onto the scene back i 2008 when she won the first ever  critics choice award ,  and was the number-one predicted breakthrough act of 2008 in an annual BBC poll of music critics, in the same year. Her first  album ‘19′ debuted at number one, certainly not disappointing us with her amazing ability to write he most powerful lyrics. It seems nothing can keep our homegrown superstar down, not even major throat surgery. Her latest album ‘21‘ is breaking sales records, and is the top-selling album worldwide right now.

Adele has boasted of loving singers, like Etta  James, and i cant think of a better music idol, her influences definitely show in her unique, soulful style, and her amazing success is living proof that the world is definitely ready for Adele.

Adele is currently taking some time off, whilst recovering from career-saving throat surgery.  statement from the US hospital where the singer had her surgery said:

 “Based on the advice of her doctor and voice therapist in the United Kingdom, Adele came to Boston to consult and undergo corrective voice surgery with Dr Zeitels, the Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center.

“Dr Zeitels has pioneered many vocal cord surgical procedures including the use of specialised lasers to stop vocal cord bleeding in singers.”  The surgery was suggested after, Adele suffered a vocal cord hemorrhage.   The Brit-winner has been advised by doctors to take the rest of the year off to recuperate.

 The surgery forced her cancel her already arranged tour, but Adele and her management have promised that the singer will be back. Untill then her DVD ‘Live At The Royal Albert Hall’ is available to buy now. A statement was relesed to say that the surgery has been completely successful, and as long as Adele take the the time she needs to recover, there is no reason for her to come back bigger and stronger than before.

The UK edition will be available on a quarterly basis on news stands from 8 February 2012. Men’s Health and Women’s Health is a magazine focusing on health, nutrition, fitness, sex, and lifestyle.

With so many celebrities walking around with fabulous toned bums, it seems that us ladies have been spending more time trying to find ways to achieve the same, resulting in an influx of women approaching cosmetic surgeons about bum enhancement and lifting treatments and implants. most towns and cities have many widely available pilates classes, which can be a fun way to get your girlfriends together, but if that just isn’t your thing, if the thought of bending and stretching in front of other people is a little scary, then don’t fret, there is a huge range of pilates DVD’s available so can work that bottom right there in your living room.

The best route to a fabulous bum is by eating right and exercising. so here’s some more suggestions of the perfect exercises to turn your bumpy butt into a beautiful behind.
Squats
Stand with your feet more than shoulder-width apart, toes pointing slightly outward, and hold a weight with both arms between your legs. Stick your butt out behind you, inhale and bend your knees until your thighs are parallel to the ground, making sure that your knees don’t extend past your toes.
Exhale as you push through your heels to lift your body back up, squeezing your butt as you reach the top.

Step-ups
Stand in front of a step or even a box that is about two feet high and, keep your arms your sides, step onto the bench with your entire foot and exhale as you press down on your heel to lift your body up slowly.
Inhale as you lower your leg back to the ground .make sure you do both legs
Butt Push-ups
Lie down on your back and bend your knees so that your heels are close to your bottom. Slowly raise your legs into the air as high as you can go, squeezing your bottom when you reach the top. Hold for a second then lower yourself back to the ground.

So get squatting, and stepping that behind into beautiful shape, wear that bikini you bought a long time ago but haven’t had the confidence to wear. or simply make you derrière look amazing in those jeans. walk with confidence ladies,
