The cause of global superstar rapper and actor, Heavy D’s sudden death was due to a pulmonary embolism, caused by deep vein thrombosis -DVT- as ruled by a Los Angeles Coroner.

The US star died at Cedar Sinai hospital california on November 8th 2011 after collapsing in the outer area of his home, he was 44.   A pulmonary embolism is a blockage of an artery in the lung, often caused by a blood clot that travels to another part of the body. The report from the coroner’s office states that absolutely no alcohol or drugs were involved in the rappers death.

DVT s closely associated with long distant travel, and although Heavy D’s weight and heart disease were contributing factors, a recent transatlantic flight was also listed as a highly probable contribution, to his cause of death.

Rapper Heavy D hit the big time with his hip hop group The Boyz, and enjoyed a fruitful solo rapping and singing career, even appearing on Michael Jackson’s track, The Jam. He later became a successful actor n hollywood.  He was well-loved within his social circle, and within the industry itself, among many famous names that came to pay their respect at his funeral were, Russel Simmons, Kimora Lee Hounsou, Chris Rock and Will Smith.

Friends and Family of legendary heavyweight rapper Heavy D gathered together last night for at a Viewing And Wake Service at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York.

As the guests arrived one by one, the A List names kept coming.
Among the many that turned up was P.Diddy , fresh out of surgery, on his shoulder, Russell Simmonds, his ex wife Kimora Lee Simmonds, Rapper Flava Flav, and Chris Rock to mention a few .

When the news of Heavy D’s sudden death outside his home was announced, many people took to witter to express their sadness and shock, and last night there wasn’t a dry eye among the gatherers.

The cause of Heavy D’s death is still known, as the results of a post mortem performed earlier this week, came back inconclusive.

The news has sent shock waves across the Music and Entertainment industry, as Heavy D was one of the most popular stars of our time.

His agent Andrew Weitz, confirmed his death, but did not reveal the cause of death.  It is understood that a post mortem has brought inconclusive results. Reports say that Heavy D collapsed near his home and an ambulance took him to the emergency room at Cedar Sinai Medical Centre and declared dead there.  The L.A’s coroners office is looking into the cause of death, an investigation is under way. TMZ reported that people at the Medical centre are saying he was treated for symptoms of a heart attack

Heavy D, real name Dwight Arrington Myers was born in Jamaica on May 24 1967, but grew up in America , he was not just a rapper, but also an actor and record producer. He was the leader of Heavy D & The Boyz, a hip hop group along side G-Whiz, Trouble T . Roy ans Eddie F. He recorded number of huge hits, including ‘In Living Color’, on Uptown records, and ‘Now That We Found Love’  Being  mentioned, in super star rapper Notorious B.I.G’s massive track ‘Juicy’, in the line ” Salt n Pepa and Heavy D in the Limousine, concreted his place as rap royalty.  His acting career was just as successful appearing in a number of movies and television shows, including Big Trouble, Life and The Cider House Rules.   Even those who do not listen to rap music would recognise his voice, as he performed the rap portion of Michael Jackson’s single Jam.

Heavy D’s last appearance in public in the movie Tower Heist, which premiered just 4 days before his untimely death. Many big name Celebrities including Justin timberlake, P Diddy, usher, La Toyah Jackson, Nick Cannon, Missy Elliot, and Timberland have been flooding Twitter with tributes about the star,

   Ironically, The last tweets by Heavy D were posted just hours before he collapsed, he wrote a tribute to Boxing legend Joe Frazier,      “SMOKIN JOE FRAZIER..RIP.. truly one of the best heavyweight champs that ever lived.. GODS SPEED, MR FRAZIER!” the rapper tweeted.  An hour later Heavy D, tweeted his final message

“BE INSPIRED”
