British healthcare organisation, Bupa has revealed that almost a third of women in the UK* (29%) say they have never been for any type of health screening.

This includes cervical screening, which is vital in detecting abnormal, pre-cancerous cells which may lead to cervical cancer.
Around 2,900 women in the UK are diagnosed with Cervical Cancer  every year. However, it is one of the most preventable cancers, with deaths from the disease having fallen over the last 25 years, precisely because of large numbers of women undergoing cervical screenings. Many women are put off going for a screening owing to a lack of information on what it involves and anxiety about dealing with abnormal results. To help, Bupa is offering advice on the subject.
Dr Katrina Herren, Medical Director, Bupa Health and Wellbeing, said: “Cervical screening detects pre-cancerous cells which can develop into cervical Cancer. Early detection of pre-cancerous cells is vitally important in preventing cervical cancer so if your test does detect these abnormal cells, don’t panic. It means that the cells which could develop into the cancer have been detected and can be monitored closely or treated to prevent them developing into cancer.”

A cervical screening is a simple procedure carried out by a doctor or qualified nurse which can detect pre-cancerous cells in the cervix which can develop into cervical cancer. Early detection of changes to cervical cells is vitally important in minimising the impact of the disease, which is why all women over the age of 25 are encouraged to have cervical screens.
A cervical smear test is just one of the tests included in Bupa’s female health assesment For women who are primarily concerned with their breast and gynaecological health, Bupa Female Health offers a thorough check and the opportunity to discuss any health concerns youhave. You can arrange fo a smear test at your GP’s Sugery, with your local nurse, or at any Sexual Health and Family Planning Clinincs, acoss the country.  The 60 minute Bupa assessment focuses on the early detection of breast and gynaecological conditions as well as other health risks such as diabetes.     After the tragic loss of Celebrity personality and mother of two, Jade Goody, Women went in their thousands to have a smear test, now that time has passed we must never foget the message that Jade sent to all women, that we must never put it off.

Scary spice Mel B is to appear on UK TV screens in ads for the Jenny Craig weight loss programme.

Mel B joined the JENNY CRAIG Programme in Australia – where the ad campaign originally launched – where she was working as a judge on X-Factor.  Now, Mel has already passed the halfway mark to her goal and there’s no stopping her!
“I am so excited I’ve passed my halfway.  My humps and bumps are still there but they’re a little bit smaller and I’m loving it“ Mel B said.
“Being halfway on my weight loss journey means I’m happier and healthier.  I still don’t get much sleep at night thanks to Madison, but with my new-found energy I’m able to be a better mother.

Mel B is fronting JENNY CRAIG’s latest campaign with huge success, appealing to mothers to invest in themselves.
“Like all mums, I sometimes feel a little guilty taking time out for myself.  But this is about my health.  I think mums are the centre of their universe, so it’s just something I just had to do,” says Mel B.
In true Mel B fashion, she also had a more personal reward for when she finally reached her goal weight.  “I cannot wait until I reach my goal weight – I can, not, WAIT!  I’m gonna get my ‘thong on’!!  Woot Woot!”
Mel B acknowledges JENNY CRAIG’s 30 years experience as leading weight management experts and providing a support system second-to-none with individual consultants and tailored eating plans.
“Let’s face it, it’s really hard to lose weight by yourself…I hate diets – they don’t work, they’re confusing. JENNY CRAIG is not a diet, it’s a healthy eating plan that makes losing weight easy. I get everything figured out for me and I get supported every single week by my own consultant. I get my breakfast, lunch, and dinner already set, already planned, and my snacks. Brilliant!’” said Mel B.

We dropped in on one of our Promising talents, De’Vide whilst they were performing in their home town.

After playing several big gigs in London and across the East of the country, De’vide returned to their roots, for an intimate gig for their local fans, and they did not disappoint.

De’vide has a sound that they describe as  crisp fusion of Hiphop, R&B, Indie and Soul with an acoustic Funk edge. …the band has two members Lexi Lex and Barney Holmes.

As expected they had the crowd on their feet,  performing some great R&B covers, and of course their debut single To &Fro. If you get the chance you should definately go and see these guys live!

We caught up with the boys after the show and they told us what they had been up to since we last spoke to them, and they have been pretty busy,  the band  have been featured on BBC radio 6, with Tom Robinson, and BBC Suffolk Introducing, after their debut track To & Fro was played on BBC1Xtra, the track was chosen as Homegrown download of the week, and in December they were placed on the long list for MTV’s BRAND NEW FOR 2012. This month they have had their debut play on BBC Norfolk Introducing.  The future is definitely looking exciting for these guys.  The band have just released their second studio track ‘Drive‘ and it’s avalable for download at the bottom of this page.   Some very exciting projects are scheduled for the next few months ahead, and we will bring you all the updates very soon.

Ricky Gervais has said, that after hosting the Golden Globe awards three yeas in a row, he never wants to do it again.

Ricky Gervais has posted a blog on his website, revealing that he never wants to host the prestigious Golden Globe awards ever again.  Admitting that he had enjoyed his three years hosting the awards Ricky says ”

“Phew! Thank **** that’s over,” , …… “I had a blast actually. It was by far my favourite of the three hosting stints.”  but he goes on, making it clear that he has no intention to return to the Golden Globe stage as the host   “I’ve told my agent to never let me be persuaded to do it again though,” he wrote. “It’s like a parachute jump.
